Makeup For Dry Eyes

Dry eyes is a condition that I hear about often, so often that I thought I would write you all a blog post about it.

What is Dry Eyes?

Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca is the scientific name for it – but lets stick to Dry eyes for all of our sakes! It basically means you have problems with your tears which can cause you to have itchy, stingy or watery eyes. Therefore makeup can become a problem . Research also shows that a drop in oestrogen can cause the tear glands to produce less watery fluid – another problem we can blame the menopause for!

Eye products have a habit of clogging the Mibomian glands in your eyelids, particularly if you like to wear eyeliner in your waterline or products with glitter in.  Here are some tips that will help you choose makeup that will be kinder and least affect your eyes.

TIP NO.1

Choose a cream eyeshadow over powder – the particles in powder can irate your eyes. I love each of the products below:

ARMANI EYE TINT
TRINNY LONDON EYE CONTACT
KIKO COSMETICS COLOUR LASTING CREAM EYESHADOW

TIP NO.2

Choose products that say ‘Hypoallergenic  – particularly when it comes to mascara, it will have less irritants in…

EYE CARE HIGH TOLLERANCE MASCARA
CLINIQUE LASH POWER MASCARA
LA ROCHE POSAY RESPECTISSIME MASCARA

TIP NO 3:

If you still want to create a winged eyeliner , you can…I find the products below to perform best.

MAYBELLINE MASTER PRECISE LIQUID EYELINER
TARTE COSMETICS DOUBLE TAKE EYELINER
BARE MINERALS MINERALIST EYELINER

TIP NO.4

You could also look into some permanent makeup to save you from applying products everyday. You could have your lashes dyed / eyebrows tinted/ eyeliner temporarily tattooed  – but you need to do a dye test first to make sure you don’t have any reactions. And please go to somebody that has been recommended to you – always do your research!

BROW SOPHISTICATION
I have used Kalli for my micro bladed eyebrows and she is brilliant - I would highly recommend her...www.browsophistication.co.uk
the little parlour
Ruth Langsford recently had her eyebrows 'Powdered' which is similar to micro-blading but less painful - she used Naomi at www.thelittleparlour.co.uk

TIP NO.5

Finally to Clean your makeup off, always be gentle…I like to use the following products:

BIODERMA SENSIBIO CLEANSING MICELLAR WATER
TEMPLE SPA BE GONE CLEANSER
LIZ EARLE EYEBRIGHT SOOTHING EYE CLEANSER

I really hope this is helpful for you, I appreciate that its overwhelming searching for product so I am always happy to do that  for you!

Please share any tips you may have, so that we can provide all of our lovely followers with product recommendations, there’s nothing like first hand experience.

Thinking about buying it to give you brushes a new lease of life and wondering how to use our brush cleaner to do it?

Well, it's super easy! Just wet your brushes in warm water, then swirl them around in the cleanser. You'll see it foam up and dissolve any makeup residue right before your eyes.

If you've got some tough dirt stuck in your brushes, don't worry!! Use the soft rubber pad in the lid to gently massage your brushes, then rinse them well with water. After that, gently squeeze them dry with a soft microfiber cloth and lay them flat to dry. Plus, it has a lovely scent!

And if that doesn't convince you, make sure to head over to the website to check out the rave reviews its been getting since it went on sale at DonnaMayLondon.com
