10 minutes with Lisa Faulkner
You are such an incredibly well known face on our television screens with such a long and varied career (and still so young!) – what would you say was your biggest achievement to date and what keeps driving you forward.
My biggest achievement I think is becoming a mother. I adopted my daughter 13 years ago and she is my everything. The reason I wake and the inspiration I need to keep pushing on. I hope I show her how to be strong and soft and driven all at the same time.
You meet a lot of people through your work – both famous and not – which one person stands out as the one that has had the biggest influence on you?
The person with the biggest influence on me is definitely my mother. She died when I was 16 years old but has completely shaped the person I am today. Feel her with me all the time especially when im cooking which was her favourite thing to do. The other person who has had a huge influence on me is Amanda Redman. I did my first proper tv job with her Dangerfield. I had always admired her and was so excited to actually work with her. She taught me so much and I trained under her through her theatre school ATS. She is an incredible actress and an amazing woman.
If you could go on a ‘social distanced’ walk and gossip with one other person right now, (not friend or family member) who would you choose and why?
Iif I could go an a walk with anyone in the whole world it would be with Glennon Doyle. I don’t know her so its a fantasy of course but I loved her book Untamed. I read it through lockdown 1 and have just reread it again. I would love to just chat to her and get her thoughts and insights!
Do you miss travel? Where will be the first place that you book a trip to once we are free to fly again?
YES! Anywhere hot with a beach. I dream of this everyday. Oh and the other place I want to visit is the place where they shoot Virgin River. I have become obsessed with it!
Are you a spender or a saver? What was the last thing you spent over £50 on? Share with us!
I wish I could save better. The last thing I bought over £50 was a dog bed for my sisters dog Otto! It was expensive but my dog loves hers so I had to buy her one!
You made quite a big career flip10 years ago which changed your life in so many ways – will we still see you acting in the future, is this part of your life still important to you?
I would love tp act again. I have been doing a few self tapes in lockdown. Just waiting to be asked!
Which song evokes the most memories for you? The one that stops you in your tracks when you hear it?
Video games by Lana del Rey will always stop me in my tracks. It reminds me of my husband.
Ok – lets talk fashion and Beauty…Whose personal style do you really admire?
Kate Moss is just beautiful. Still my queen!
Do you follow a strict skincare regime? Can you share with our readers?
I use Marie Reynolds skincare. She is very much a believer in feeding your skin from the inside so I take her supplements . Col Force is amazing for my skin and hair and truly works. I also use her cleanser and oils and I drink a load of water. When im not working I hardly ever where makeup apart from a bit of BB cream and some mascara.
What is the latest item you purchased for your makeup bag?
Garnier BB cream in light
Is there one product you have used since your teens that you just can’t let go?
Elizabeth arden 8 hour cream > I have used this for years and years and am never without a tube of it.
What is your favourite lip colour? Brand and shade?
My lovely friend Charlie gave me a beauty pie lip colour balm stick. I think the colour is sexy berry, well actually she lent it to me while we were filming and I never gave it back !! I love it as more of a stain than a colour.
What is your desert island product that you couldn’t live without?
Probably 8 hour cream as I can use on my lips and eyebrows and lashes!
As we are now in lockdown again – although it does feel slightly different from the first time, is there one piece of advice you could give our readers that helps you when you are stressed and anxious?
I’m just trying to be kind to myself and take things day by day. Yesterday was a bad day and I wore pjs and watched tv but todays a good day and I am up and doing stuff. Just remember every day is a fresh start. And I also get out and walk, no matter what the weather is like, it grounds me being out in the fresh air and breathing. But its tough and everyone is feeling it. At least now there is light at the end of the tunnel.
